OPERATION MANAGER
Barthasar Rwelengera is a seasoned Public Health Specialist with over 10 years of experience in environmental health, sanitation, and hygiene behaviour change programming in Tanzania. He holds an MSc in Environmental Management and Technology from Ardhi University and a BSc in Environmental Health Sciences from the University of Dar es Salaam.
He currently serves as Operations Manager at CLEARKAMO Limited, where he has played a key role in supporting national-scale behavioural change campaigns, including the Nyumba ni Choo sanitation initiative and COVID-19 response efforts. Barthasar has extensive experience working with the Ministry of Health and development partners to design and implement impactful WASH interventions across multiple regions.
Previously, he worked with the World Health Organization (WHO) as a Health, Environment and Climate Change expert, contributing to cholera response strategies, rapid response coordination, and community-level WASH behaviour change in high-risk regions. His earlier role with the Ministry of Health involved contributing to national sanitation policies, guidelines, and large-scale programs such as the Global Sanitation Fund (UMATA) and Community-Led Total Sanitation (CLTS).
Barthasar’s expertise spans behavioural change communication, sanitation campaign design, policy development, stakeholder coordination, and capacity building at national and sub-national levels. He is fluent in both English and Kiswahili.
